…and out of this number only about 500,000 thousands (arguably) students will be given admission, what then happen to the remaining students?, they will be expected to stay at home and prepare for the next JAMB. Quite an Irony right?
To ensure transparency in admission, most schools (LASU also) release how students are graded for admission, and this this through what we call an aggregate system.
Students who do not meet up with the aggregate score (departmental cut off mark) and JAMB cut off mark for the course they want to study will not be given admission.
So now the question is, what is the JAMB and Departmental cut off mark for the different courses in LASU.
This I will be showing you shortly, all you have to do from your end is to take a glass of water and read through diligently… ENJOY?
Is LASU Cut Off Mark Out?
Yes, JAMB cut off mark to be eligible for Lagos State University Post UTME Exam is now out.
Therefore, students who wish to apply to LASU and scored above this score can begin their process of application.
What Is LASU JAMB Cut Off Mark?
The JAMB Cut off mark for UNIPORT this year is 195 irrespective of the course you applied for.
Therefore, any student who sat for the Joint Admission and Matriculation Examination’s (JAMB) Exam and scores above 195 can move to the next stage of admission processing.
But if for any reason, the student was unable to make up to 195, even if the JAMB score is 194, that student will not be able to even apply for LASU Post UTME.
Is this JAMB cut off mark for LASU the same for all courses?
I know you may have seen some miss-information elsewhere, where JAMB cut off mark highlighted for the different courses in LASU were different, something like, JAMB cut off mark for Pharmacy is 215, cut off mark for anatomy is 200, or the Cut off mark for law is 220.
So, be rest assured that, provided you cross the 195 mark, you are eligible to participate in LASU Post UTME exam, but this will not guarantee you admission.
Aside LASU JAMB Cut off mark, there is the departmental cut off mark that is gotten from both your JAMB and Post UTME score, what we call your aggregate score.
What Is LASU Departmental Cut Off Mark For All Courses
Lagos State University do not have a fixed departmental cut off mark, they work based on the performance of the students in their Post UTME.
For instance, students with the highest score in Post UTME (for each department) is use to determine the number of students the school is going to admit for that particular year, that is to say, if LASU needs 100 students for a particular department in 2023
…they will admit them from the student with the highest score in Post UTME for that department until they attain their desired number of students considered for admission on merit list.
Students who after calculating their aggregate, scores above this cut off mark is rest assured of being admitted on merit bases (what we call the merit list).
This departmental cut off mark is not the same for all courses, the more competitive a course is, the higher the cut off mark for admission
You can apply this to your JAMB and Post UTME grade to see where you stand.
How To Calculate LASU Online Screening Score
Students grade will be based on Point Grading System, using the UTME Score and SSCE (or equivalent) grades in Five (5) BEST RELEVANT subjects to candidate’s choice of course.
You can confirm your O’level courses for computing your aggregate in our Subject Combination Checker
The Point grading system is as follows:
- UTME POINT = JAMB score divided by 8 (making 50% of your point)
- O’level Point = Constitute the other 50%
The table below shows the points for each grade in your O’level;
LASU Aggregate = JAMB score/8 + O’level Points (using the table provided 50%) = 100%
LASU JAMB cut off mark is 195 for all courses, the departmental cut off mark varies, depending on how competitive the course is.
