Universities Not Under ASUU: What are the Federal and State Universities Not Under ASUU in Nigeria?, Schools in Nigeria that are not under ASUU?

In this article you and I will be going through the list of Universities not under ASUU in Nigeria.

Before now, I had earlier explained the Essence of the Academic staff Union in one of my write-up titled ‘What is ASUU‘, there I also listed universities that are Under ASUU, both state and Federal, and today a contrary list will be provided here. STAY TUNED😊.

Just as we have Universities that follows the Instruction of the National Union (ASUU), there are also Universities that do not fall under the purview of the Union ASUU

These Universities are mostly privately owned, since they do not depend on the Government for payment of Salaries and other Monetary assistance and therefore

There is no logical reason why they should be part of ASUU or participate in any of their Strike

Before now, University of Nigeria, NSUKKA and University of Ilorin, UNILORIN were the only federal owned University that were not part of ASUU but as at 2019 the tables turned and now they are part of ASUU, so you will not have even one Federal University not partaking in the strike when the whistle for Strike action is blown.

Why Do Private Universities Not Go On Strike?

The federal government and ASUU reached an agreement in 1999, and up till now ASUU claim that this agreement has not been responded to duly by the Government.

For this reason we have been having series of strikes here and there up till this day.

But for these Privately owned Universities that will be listed here, they were not part of this Agreement between the Government and the Universities, and as such it is hardly heard of that these Schools Embark on Strike.

Universities Not Under ASUU

Below is a list containing all Universities that are not under ASUU whether Federal, State or Private… ENJOY!!!

Federal Universities Not Under ASUU

There are NO Federal Universities in Nigeria that is not under ASUU as of now, all Federal Universities are under ASUU.

State Universities Not Under ASUU

State Universities not under ASUU are Delta State University, DELSU, Rivers State University and Anambra State University.

although, during the last strike Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Kwara State University (KSU) and Rivers State University (RSU) pulled out from the Strike, but no telling if they would continue in that stead this year.

DELSU is a state owned University in Nigeria that is not on strike currently.

Although, this university (DELSU) joined the first four (4) weeks of the strike, they later pulled out and currently academic activities are running smoothly in DELSU (Delta State University.

This University is located in ABRAKA, Delta State with her official website @ https://www.delsu.edu.ng/

All other State Universities, Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH), Lagos State University (LASU) are all under ASUU.

Private Universities Not Under ASUU

Like I mentioned before, most Universities in this list are privately owned

When Will ASUU Strike Be Called Off?

There is no specific time for strikes to be called of, but one thing is certain, when the purpose of the strike is achieved the strike will be called off.

You can also know via twitter (Although ASUU do not have an official twitter handle the information dispensed by the handle representing it have not be misleading for now).

In Conclusion

All Federal University are under ASUU, Delta State University, River State University and Anambra State University are State Universities not under ASUU, while no Private University is under ASUU.
