The chances are quite low right?
…but that do not mean that with a Score of, lets say 215 you cannot be admitted to study Law, you still can, because your JAMB Score only make up 50% of your Admission requirements.
The other 50% is from your Post UTME, O’ level or both, depending on the University’s aggregate grading system.

JAMB Cut Off Mark For Law That Guarantees Admission
280 is a good enough JAMB Score to Study Law in any University in Nigeria.
With 280 and above as your JAMB Score, your chances of been admitted to study Law in any University of your Choice is quite Juicy (70%).
I will explain the reasons for this when I show you how schools calculate aggregate score for Admission shortly.
How To Calculate Your Aggregate Score For Law
Different Universities use different method to compute student’s aggregate score for admission to Law
Some Universities use Both JAMB and Post UTME (like the University of Benin), some use JAMB and O’ level (University of AAU) while others use JAMB, Post UTME and O’ level Result *Like University of Lagos, to calculate student admission aggregate.
Irrespective of the pattern your school of choice adopts for calculating aggregate score for students, your JAMB Score will still make up 50%, your JAMB Score will be divided by 8.
Here is how your average for Law is calculated using your JAMB Score…
- Your JAMB Score will be divided by 8, and your Post UTME divided by 2, to give you your total average (this is only applicable for schools using Post UTME and JAMB)
- JAMB Score divided by 8, plus Post UTME 30% and O’ level 20% (for Schools using O’ level, Post utme and JAMB)
- JAMB Score divided by 8 + O’ level making the remaining 50%
From the calculation pattern above, you will see that, your JAMB score will always carry bulk of the mark, that is why a high JAMB score is important to study competitive courses like Law.
If you score 280 in JAMB, dividing 280 by 8 would be 35, the departmental cut off mark for Law is usually not less than 70 for most Universities.
P.S; See the differences between JAMB and School Cut off mark.
You will only need to put in moderate effort to achieve this with a JAMB score of 280.
In Conclusion
A JAMB Score of 280 and above is good enough to secure admission in any University in Nigeria to Study Law.

Sir can I study law with 200 in jamb and be given admission into the university abuja?
200 is too low for a competitive course like Law, more so in a competitive University like UNIABUJA, to stand a chance you should target a score of 290 and above.
I’m writing to inquire about the departmental passmark for Law at Imo State University.
That for 2024 is yet to be published, this post helps provide an insight of what you should target. Good luck moving forward.

Yes, but you can always confirm your subject eligibility using JAMB IBASS eligibility checker

Hey Oluchi, 223 is too low to study low, although you can increase your chances by excelling in your Post UTME (that is if the school you applied to organize Post UTME Exam) but this is not an easy feat.
To be on a safe side, you may want to change course to a less competitive one to increase your chances
I got 240 in jamb is there any university I can apply to that would take me and I also got 3.6 in Diploma in law if I want to do direct entry is there any university including private ones that would take me?
You have a better chance with a private University

Although 241 is low, but with better performance in Post UTME will increase your chances
With a jamb score of 216 can i be able to study law in RSUT if my post utme is high
If your Post UTME score allows you to meet the aggreagate cut off mark for law in RSUT, then you stand a chance, but with 216, it will be very difficult to achieve that
Sir can I study law in lasu with 270
Yes Stephanie, with 270 in JAMB you will need to maintain same energy in your Post UTME (by scoring high) to secure your admission to Law in LASU
GOOD DAY SIR IS 241 A GOOD ENOUGH SCORE FOR LAW IF I WANT TO STUDY IN ESUT
241 although not perfect, can give you a chance if you do so well in the Post UTME
Please sir do OAU accept
182 as jamb cut off mark
No
If cut off mark for law is 280 and you score 220 in jamb, probably if you sit for post utme and score 60, I think what they will do,is to calculate both what you score in jamb +post utme to get that =280 cut off mark!!!.
I hope that’s how they use to calculate it abi??
No Solomon, your jamb score (220) will be divided by 8 and your post utme score (60) divided by 2 and summed.
I score 205 in the just concluded jamb fo I have a chance to study law in aau
Hey Gloria, 205 is quite low for a University like AAU, that will likely not be conducting post utme.
My advice is, you apply to a less competitive course using JAMB change of course form.
Thank you sir
Please sir, has AAU start going to school.
